Owners' Perspective: Why we love 417 Howard St

Having lived in the Hawley-Green area for the past 3 years all I can say is this neighborhood ROCKS.
The people in this area are extremely committed to constantly improving the communication between one another, they care about the area and throughout the year they do a lot of events, etc. to better the area.
There is a Hawley-Green Neighborhood watch, an annual BBQ for the local police and city officials, an annual block party, annual House and Garden Tour (last year there were over 125 people that enjoyed this event) and other wonderful events that happen throughout the year.
There is a garden area in the back of the rowhouses on Howard Street that is dubbed the Community Garden. Everyone is able to enjoy the company of the other neighbors, there is a BBQ, picnic tables and a fire pit. We have toasted marshmellows, danced and planted flowers there. It's WIFI and basically it's a great place to sit back and unwind.
The neighbors have actually banded together and painted one of the houses in the area because the owner was unable to do so for herself. The owner paid for the paint and the rest was done by all the neighbors coming together to paint it. There are annual planting parties, neighbors here have a vested interest in the area. There are some great little stores in the area. Sugarpearl Espresso Lounge/Cafe located on Burnet Ave, the owner of the cafe lives in Hawley-Green. There is Dominick's Meat Market, a bookstore, great Italian food at Gentile's and so much more. The area is located within walking distance to downtown and all the events that are held there.
