Owners' Perspective: Why we love 762 Westmoreland Ave

We lived at 762 Westmoreland Ave since 2009 and we would never leave if not for some great job opportunities outside of Upstate NY. The area has become an amazing home for us. Our home is perfectly situated a mile and a quarter from SU’s campus. It is also a short bike ride to LeMoyne and the area hospitals. We both work there and love walking to work when weather permits. It is also an ideal area to walk and bike with a number of beautiful parks in the neighborhood. We are centrally located and we also have such easy, close access to the great shops, entertainment, and restaurants in the Westcott area and the Real Food Co-op on Kensington. The best Wegmans is also only a short drive away. Our neighbors are incredibly nice and we’ve enjoyed getting to know the warm and welcoming community. We have never felt unsafe in our home or community.

The best part of our home is that it is the perfect spot to entertain. The open floor plan allows for great socializing and the host doesn’t ever need to be relegated to the kitchen. We absolutely love to cook and there is plenty of counter space. We will probably miss our range the most! It’s an amazing tool for the most intricate of cooking. One of the burners even has a melt function for the lowest and slowest of Sunday cooking. The back deck is perfect for summer dinners outside and we built it so that it’s perfectly long enough for a game of cornhole or a modestly sized deck-top garden! The easy access from the main bedroom affords quiet weekend coffee on the deck. During summer months, the backyard is incredibly lush with greenery, so all the homes on Fellows Ave are almost completely obscured by the leaves.

In the winter, it’s the perfectly cozy home. All of our improvements included lots of work on the insulation, so the heat doesn’t escape through any cracks. Although we live on the big brick hill, we have never had a problem with road conditions in the winter.
Plows tend to come early and often.

We use the basement suite as a guest bedroom, which is perfect because there’s a separate bath downstairs so that guests have plenty of privacy. Or, it could even be a great space for a renter.

The basement entry and garage are perfect for snowy winters as the entry acts as a mudroom to deposit snowy and wet clothes. The downstairs garage not only makes getting in and out of the house a breeze, but its ample size is ideal for storing lawn mowers, snow blowers, and other household items. Or, the space could be used to build a garage workshop.
A small closet in the garage also allows for more storage.

This house was absolutely perfect for us and we hope that the next owner(s) love it
just as much as we do!
