Owners' Perspective: Why we love 224 Hampton Rd

Our young family has loved living at 224 Hampton Road since 2011, and it is bittersweet to be leaving, only to return to our home state of Minnesota. Our home is ideally situated less than five minutes from SU and downtown hotspots like Armory Square, and has even quicker access to 690, 81, and the thruway. With such a convenient location, you wouldn’t expect we are also in a very cozy neighborhood, right in Sedgwick, one of the most desirable, family-friendly neighborhoods in Syracuse. This is a great home for all types – from retirees to families with teenagers to those raising little ones, our house has nooks and crannies for quiet and independence as well as great space for fun and family time – take it from us, we have loved raising our sweet one-year-old daughter here. For those with kids, Salem Hyde Elementary, one of the best-rated schools in the city, is two blocks away.

Our favorite room in the house is definitely the completely remodeled kitchen, featuring granite countertops, ceramic flooring, and designer light fixtures – with two Wegmans within 10 minutes we spend a lot of time in here! We love kicking up the heat with our new gas range, and the professional grade exhaust hood can handle any dinner party or holiday feast. It’s been a family tradition for our family from Minnesota to come out each Thanksgiving, and we know you’ll make your own holiday memories enjoying dinner in the positively stately dining room with craftsman-finished ceiling and luxurious crown molding,
or relaxing in the living room by the fire.

Upstairs, the bedrooms all have plenty of storage space – we love to shop but even we haven’t been able to fill the large walk-in closet in the master bedroom! The master also features a vanity mirror and sink, so fighting over the bathroom in the morning is never an issue. Our daughter’s room also has a very spacious , window-filled sunroom that we have outfitted
with plenty of shelves.

Our upstairs bedrooms provide ease and security for those with small children since they all share a landing, but one of the best things about our home is the fourth bedroom in the basement. This has been at times a guestroom and an entertainment room for us, and would make a great private bedroom for those with older kids who might be looking for a bit of independence. You could also rent it out for some extra income since it has its own side entrance on the first floor. The basement has newly finished, moisture-resistant floors, and has a great bathroom with a beautiful cement-poured and stone shower. Not only that, but the spare room has new protective rubber flooring. It’s a great space for workout equipment or additional storage.

Syracuse has given us a rare opportunity to own a fantastic home that, frankly, would be out of our price range in almost any other major metro area in the country. We are happy to be returning to family and friends in the Midwest, but we are sad to be leaving our beautiful home. But our loss could be your gain! This Sedgwick gem could be yours!
