One of the largest public school districts in the area, the Syracuse City School District serves over 21,000 students throughout its 5 high schools, 6 middle schools, 7 K-8 schools, 14 elementary schools, and 4 alternative schools/programs. The district is dedicated to promoting and fostering the diversity found throughout the schools, as students here speak over 70 different language and come from 60 different countries around the world. Awards & Accolades

Between both the students and the educators in the Syracuse City Schools, the district receives a wide array of awards and recognitions. A few examples of recent accolades that schools in the district have achieved include the 2018 Vonnell Mastri Recycling Excellence Award and the Youth Transition Award for OCC Partnership. Individual current and former students in the district have also been recognized as Presidential Scholars, all-state athletes, and Fulbright Teaching Assistantship Scholars.

Unique Programs

The Syracuse City School District offers over 100 athletic programs for students to choose from, so there's an option for nearly every interest. A few of the more unique programs include lacrosse, badminton, bowling, crew, fencing, gymnastics, rifle, and skiing. There's also a wide variety of extracurricular clubs to choose from, including Acapella Club, Chess Club, Multicultural Club, Book Club, and the Soul Writers' Poetry Club.
